Félix Dolci earns first MAG Youth Olympic medal for Canada
16-year-old Félix Dolci, from Laval Excellence scored a 13.366 with the highest execution score (8.866) to win a silver medal in the rings apparatus finals of the Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires, Argentina on October 14, 2018. It is the first Youth Olympic medal in men’s artistic gymnastics for Canada and second medal for any Olympic event in that discipline, the first being Kyle Shewfelt’s 2004 Olympic gold on floor. The all around men’s champion Takeru Kitazono of Japan added another gold medal with a score of 13.533.
Participating in the vault final immediately following his rings medal ceremony, Dolci finished seventh. He has one more final on high bar on Monday October 15.
I’m incredibly proud to have won a medal at the Youth Olympic Games. I worked really hard this year on rings, and my ability to be consistent in the execution helped me get to the podium.
