William Emard finishes 8th in AA Finals
Laval Excellence gymnast William Emard originally planned to compete as an apparatus specialist on floor, rings, and vault at his second World Championships in Kitakyushu, Japan. Following the ankle injury of club- and team- mate Felix Dolci, Will was promoted to compete all six apparatus.
After qualifying in 11th place all around, Emard competed in the all around finals with clean, hit routines at every rotation, totalling a score of 83.256 points. Surprising himself, he finished in 8th place earning a top 8 podium certificate and Canada’s best ever all around finish at a World Championships since Adam Wong of Calgary finished 9th at the 2006 World Championships in Aarhus, Denmark.
The world champion title was tightly contested between Chinese champion ZHANG Boheng and Olympic champion HASHIMOTO Daiki of Japan.
